Renew vintage
I am vey happy with my new "old" renew Wayfarer , its has tortoise frame, very vintage and the plus of the polarized brown lens., its look very fine.
"You got your hair combed back, Wayfarers on, baby..."
I knew I had reached the cool part of adulthood when I purchased my first pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers. My Dad wore these back in 1955. Frank Sinatra wore them. Jack Kennedy wore them. Sean Connery had a pair in Dr. No. Like James Bond, they introduce themselves suavely and without fanfare. Jack Kerouac wore them. He borrowed Neal Cassady's and never returned them. The Blues Brothers wore them. In old photographs, every Brooklyn Dodger is sporting a pair. The Men in Black wore the wraparound style. They were invented for fighter pilots in World War II by Bausch & Lomb. Muhammad Ali Jinnah of Pakistan and Sheik Mujibur Rahman of Bangladesh both wore them. Corey Hart wore them at night. MY DAD wore them.
Yeah, when I was a kid, I thought they were 'old man' glasses. But, being no longer a child I put away childish things (like my Blu-Blockers), and I bought a pair. Two pair actually, one in basic black and one in tortoiseshell. Because if you're gonna do it, you gotta do it right. So one pair stays in the car and the other around the house for yard work. I have a yard.
Call me an old man. Ha.
Wayfarers were 'out' for a while, in the styleless '70s, but they are very much back 'in'. And while they ARE the coolest of shades, it's much more important, and their reputation rests on, the fact that these deep, dark polarized lenses work to cut out nearly all the glare and evil UV rays around. Plus, they're sturdy. They will last a lifetime, long enough to be passed down, if you take even the minimal proper care of them. Like a Regular High Polish Chrome Lighter from Zippo, or a Movado Museum Automatic Watch, Wayfarers are classics because they've EARNED their reputation.
Original Ray Ban Wayfarer used everyday for 15 years for real
I had a pair of black Ray Ban Wayfarer purchased in 1991 and worn until 2006 almost everyday. They were my only pair of sunglasses, winter and summer. I went through several pairs of chums (sunglasses holder that goes around your neck), because the chums would just wear out and fall apart. The day my Wayfarer finally broke I was very sad. But considering how long I had them, it was nothing short of amazing (that I did not loose them in all that time was another wonder). I've had a three of pairs of sunglasses since 2006, Marc Jacobs and Gucci, I had to go with the current fashion. But I am going to get another pair of black wayfarer for obvious reasons.
The Ray ban sunglasses uk color varies from classic tortoise, yellow tortoise, shiny sand or crystal, navy or black, sand or black and many more.
